Our Mission

At AI4kids, we believe that access to knowledge should never be limited by one’s background. Our mission is to break down barriers and offer children from underrepresented groups the tools they need to make informed choices about their future. We achieve this by connecting students and professionals who can serve as role models and mentors for these young individuals.

Our Vision

We envision a future where Digital Literacy is an integral part of every primary and secondary school curriculum in the Netherlands. Within five years, we aim to see every child equipped with the essential skills and knowledge to thrive in an increasingly digital world.

Our Promise

Our ambition is to foster resilience in the digital society for every child while providing them with the opportunity to pursue a technical education, should they choose to. Our workshops and meetings expose children to captivating topics such as data and artificial intelligence, opening their minds to new possibilities. Additionally, we encourage and support other initiatives with similar objectives, thereby contributing positively to diversity within the technology sector.

In the short term, we strive to increase our foundation’s visibility and expand our programs to benefit primary school children in both Amsterdam and Rotterdam.

What We Do

Our History

AI4kids began as a vision during the 2021 Collective Week of ADC, when Dennis Knol and his colleagues launched the first workshop. This workshop aimed to introduce children from disadvantaged neighborhoods to the fascinating world of data, programming, and AI.

Dennis Knol shares his excitement, “It is amazing to see how kids react to our workshops. The kids quickly grasp the data science concepts we explain, and some even express enthusiasm about a possible future career in AI!”

Our Programs

Our workshops cover various topics, including data and algorithms, as well as recommendation systems. These programs are tailored specifically for kids, fostering an engaging and enjoyable learning experience.

How You Can Contribute

• Volunteers: AI4kids welcomes volunteers who can contribute in two meaningful ways. You can help develop and supervise our workshops, or support the organization by coordinating activities, handling administrative tasks, and recruiting partners and volunteers.
• Sponsors: As a non-profit foundation, AI4kids relies on the support of generous sponsors. You can contribute through subsidies, sponsorships, donations, or reimbursements for our teaching programs, enabling us to continue empowering children and creating lasting change.
